InnoFour News | June

Dear ,

“In the summertime, when the weather is high. You can stretch right up and touch the sky. Have a drink, have a drive, go out and see what you can find.” Do you recognize the lyrics? Mungo Jerry sang it back in 1970! With summer just around the corner, there is usually still a lot to be done, deadlines to be met but -of course- you have everything under control with InnoFour! We, the newsletter editorial, wish you a fantastic summer and hopefully we meet again in September!

WHAT IS PCB CABLE HARNESS CO-DESIGN?

Printed circuit boards do not operate in isolation. Multi-board PCB system designs typically require board-to-board connections made by standard or custom cables. Siemens solutions scale to support everything from the simplest cable within an electronic box or LRU to complex harnesses connecting LRUs in systems-of-systems designs.

WHY DC DROP ANALYSIS IS IMPORTANT

What if heat becomes something you can work with early in the process, rather then something you'd be surprised by at the end? That’s the shift we're seeing in teams that are rethinking their design process. They're not waiting for a test bench or prototype to have a thermal issue. Curious about how this works, or how to bring thermal insight closer to your design process?

HyperLynx SI/PI includes a powerful feature to model the resistance of power delivery networks and report excessive voltage drop, current density, and via current. The possible voltage drop can cause ICs to malfunction more as supply voltages get lower and current demands increase.

DC Drop simulation on a PCB power delivery net is simple in theory, but not so simple in practice. After all, it just relies on Ohm’s Law. The difficulty is in calculating the resistance of the connection when it is a complex 3-dimensional element. With increasing current demands of new ICs and more complexity in the layout, it is more important to simulate with an accurate model of the layout. HyperLynx PI facilitates this process.

Watch the video and learn how easy it is to set up DC Drop simulation and get accurate and meaningful results very quickly in HyperLynx PI.

QUESTA PRIME BECOMES QUESTA ONE SIM IN JUNE

Siemens EDA announced and is now launching Questa One Sim, a major upgrade to your existing Questa Prime environment, as part of the upcoming June release. Questa One Sim isn’t a new side tool or optional add-on - it’s a direct replacement designed to do what Prime did, only faster, smarter, and more automated. If you're a Questa Prime user, you'll soon be running Questa One Sim.

Questa One is a comprehensive suite of verification solutions, designed to address the escalating complexity of modern ASICs and FPGAs designs. It aims to transform traditional verification processes by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to enhance accuracy, reduce time-to-market, and improve overall productivity:

  • Questa One Sim – the next-generation simulation and debug engine (replacing Questa Prime).

  • Questa One SFV – a stimulus-free formal/static verification solution leveraging several formal and static tools combined with AI and automation.

  • Questa One Verification IQ – a cloud-native, data-driven platform for verification planning, traceability, and analytics.

  • Avery Verification IPs – protocol-compliant VIPs for simulation, formal, and emulation flows.

Together, they offer a cohesive approach to verification that’s scalable, intelligent, and production ready.

This innovative solution enables teams to achieve faster, higher-quality product outcomes, driving progress in semiconductor development. We encourage organizations to explore the capabilities of Questa One and how it can revolutionise their verification workflows.
